UPTET 2026 Answer Key: What Just Happened

The Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission (UPESSC) has released the provisional answer key for the Uttar Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test (UPTET) 2026. The written exam was held on 2, 3 and 4 July 2026, and the provisional answer key came out on 8 July 2026. A "provisional" answer key means it is the first version. If you feel any answer is wrong, you can challenge it during the objection window. After UPESSC studies all objections, it will publish the final answer key and then the result.

UPTET is held under Advertisement Number 01/UPTET/2026. The application fee was charged per paper, so a candidate who appeared in both Paper 1 and Paper 2 paid for both papers.

What is UPTET?

UPTET stands for Uttar Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test. It is a qualifying exam for people who want to become teachers in Uttar Pradesh government and government-aided schools. There are two papers:

• Paper 1 is for those who want to teach Classes 1 to 5 (Primary level).
• Paper 2 is for those who want to teach Classes 6 to 8 (Upper Primary level).

You can appear in one paper or both papers, depending on the classes you want to teach. Passing UPTET does not give you a job by itself. It only makes you eligible to apply for UP teacher recruitment later.

UPTET 2026 Exam Pattern

Both papers are objective-type. Each paper has 150 multiple-choice questions (MCQs) for 150 marks, and you get 2 hours 30 minutes (150 minutes) to finish. Every question carries 1 mark and there is no negative marking for a wrong answer. The paper is set in both Hindi and English (except the language sections).

UPTET 2026 Qualifying Marks

UPTET is a pass or fail test. You must score at least the minimum marks below to get the eligibility certificate. Scoring more than the minimum does not give any extra benefit for the certificate, but a higher score can help you later in teacher recruitment.

How to Check the UPTET 2026 Answer Key

1. Open the answer key / objection login link given in the Important Links table above.
2. Log in with your registration number and password.
3. Open the answer key for your paper (Paper 1 or Paper 2).
4. Match your marked answers with the correct answers shown in the key.
5. Count your likely marks (1 mark per correct answer, no negative marking) to get an idea of your score.
6. Save or print the answer key for your record.

How to Raise an Objection Against the Answer Key

If you think any answer in the provisional key is wrong, you can challenge it during the objection window.

1. Log in through the official objection link in the Important Links table above.
2. Select the question and the answer you disagree with.
3. Upload clear proof, such as a page from a standard book, to support your point.
4. Pay the objection fee if the notice asks for one.
5. Submit your objection before the last date given in the official answer-key notice and keep the receipt.

UPESSC checks every objection with a subject expert before it finalises the answer key. Please read the official answer-key notice for the exact objection dates and rules.

What Happens After the Answer Key

After the objection window closes, UPESSC reviews all challenges and prepares the final answer key. The result is then prepared based on this final key. The OMR (Optical Mark Recognition) sheets are checked by computer. The result date for UPTET 2026 is not announced yet, so keep checking the official website in the Important Links table above.

Once you qualify, the UPTET certificate is valid for a lifetime for all categories, counted from the result date. UPESSC will issue the certificate in electronic form through DigiLocker. Remember, the certificate is only an eligibility proof for UP teacher recruitment and does not promise a job on its own.
