Bank of India Credit Officer Recruitment 2026 — Overview
Bank of India (BOI) is a large public-sector bank owned by the Government of India. It has released a recruitment notice (Project No. 2026-27/01, dated 01 June 2026) to hire 779 Credit Officers in the GBO (General Banking Officer) stream. A Credit Officer studies loan applications, checks the financial health of borrowers, and helps the bank lend money safely. This is a regular, permanent officer job.
Candidates apply online only. The online form opened on 30 June 2026 and closes on 20 July 2026. Read the full official notification carefully before you apply, because the eligibility (age, marks and experience) is different for each scale.
Vacancy Details (Scale-wise)
The 779 posts are spread across three officer scales. A higher scale means a more senior role, a higher pay and a higher minimum age and experience. The category-wise split from the official notice is given below.
| Scale (Post) | General | EWS | OBC | SC | ST | Total |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| MMGS-II (Manager) | 274 | 69 | 180 | 102 | 52 | 677 |
| MMGS-III (Senior Manager) | 22 | 8 | 16 | 10 | 5 | 61 |
| SMGS-IV (Chief Manager) | 21 | 3 | 9 | 6 | 2 | 41 |
| Total | 317 | 80 | 205 | 118 | 59 | 779 |
MMGS means Middle Management Grade Scale and SMGS means Senior Management Grade Scale. Some of these posts are backlog vacancies carried forward from the earlier 2025-26 recruitment drive.
Pay Scale and Salary
Below is the official monthly basic pay for each scale, exactly as stated in the notice. Your total salary will be higher than the basic pay because dearness allowance (DA), house rent allowance (HRA) and other benefits are added on top. We do not show an estimated in-hand figure — check the official notice for the exact allowances.
| Scale | Official Basic Pay (per month) |
|---|---|
| MMGS-II | Rs. 64,820 – Rs. 93,960 |
| MMGS-III | Rs. 85,920 – Rs. 1,05,280 |
| SMGS-IV | Rs. 1,02,300 – Rs. 1,20,940 |
Eligibility — Education and Experience
You must have a bachelor's degree (graduation) in any stream with at least 60% marks (55% for SC/ST/OBC/PwBD candidates) from a recognised university. On top of the degree, you also need a professional qualification such as CA (Chartered Accountant), CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst), CMA/ICWA (Cost and Management Accountant), or a full-time MBA/PGDBM or a 2-year post-graduate degree in Banking, Finance, or a credit-related subject.
Work experience in credit or lending is compulsory and the minimum years increase with the scale (a few years for MMGS-II, and more for MMGS-III and SMGS-IV). The exact experience rules for each scale are given in the official notification, so read that section carefully before applying.
Age Limit (as on 01 June 2026)
The age limit is different for each scale. Age relaxation is given as per government rules — 5 years for SC/ST, 3 years for OBC, 10 years for Persons with Benchmark Disability (PwBD) and 5 years for Ex-Servicemen.
| Scale | Minimum Age | Maximum Age |
|---|---|---|
| MMGS-II | 25 years | 32 years |
| MMGS-III | 28 years | 38 years |
| SMGS-IV | 32 years | 45 years |
Selection Process
Selection is done through an online written examination, followed by a personal interview. When both stages are held, the marks are combined with a 70:30 weightage (70% for the online exam and 30% for the interview). Final selection is subject to document verification and a medical check. The bank may decide to hold only the exam, or only the interview, based on the number of applicants.
Exam Pattern
The online exam has 125 questions for 125 marks and the time given is 120 minutes (2 hours). There is a penalty for wrong answers — 0.25 mark is cut for each wrong answer (negative marking). The structure is shown below.
| Section | Questions | Marks |
|---|---|---|
| English Language (qualifying only) | 25 | 25 |
| Professional Knowledge (credit / banking) | 100 | 100 |
| Total | 125 | 120 minutes |
The English section is only qualifying — you must pass it, but its marks are not added to your merit score. The Professional Knowledge section decides your rank.
