JHTET 2026 Overview

The Jharkhand Teacher Eligibility Test, called JHTET (also written as JTET), is conducted by the Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC), Ranchi. It is a qualifying test, not a direct recruitment. If you pass it, you get a JHTET certificate. This certificate makes you eligible to apply for teacher posts in Jharkhand government and government-aided schools. Passing JHTET does not by itself give you a job — a separate recruitment is held later, and you must apply for that.

The test has two papers. Paper 1 is for people who want to teach primary classes, that is Class 1 to Class 5. Paper 2 is for those who want to teach upper primary classes, that is Class 6 to Class 8. You may apply for one paper or for both papers, depending on the classes you want to teach.

Application Timeline (in short)

The online form opened on 21 April 2026. The last date to apply and to pay the fee is 20 July 2026 (this date was extended by JAC from earlier dates). The exam date is not announced yet — JAC will release it later on its official portal. Admit cards will come out a few days before the exam. Keep checking this page; we will update the dates here as JAC releases them.
