UPSC NDA I 2026 Written Result — Overview

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has declared the written result of the National Defence Academy and Naval Academy Examination (I), 2026. This exam is commonly called NDA I 2026. It was held on 12 April 2026 across the country. Candidates who cleared the written paper have now qualified for the next stage — the Services Selection Board (SSB) interview and personality test.

UPSC has published two separate written-result lists — one arranged by roll number and one arranged by name. You can download both lists from the download links on this page (our fast copy of the official UPSC documents). The written result only decides who moves to the SSB stage. The final selection depends on the SSB interview marks added to the written marks.

What "Written Result" Means Here

The written result is only the first filter. If your roll number appears in the list, it means you passed the written exam and are called for the SSB interview. It does not mean final selection. Your marks are not shown in this list — UPSC releases individual marks much later, after the whole process is over.

Vacancy Details

UPSC advertised a total of 394 posts under NDA I 2026 (Advertisement No. 03/2026). The seats are split across the three defence wings and the Naval Academy, as shown below.

The wing-wise break-up is given in the official notification. Please read the official notice for the exact seat split for each wing.

Eligibility (Who Could Apply)

Age: Only unmarried candidates born not earlier than 2 July 2007 and not later than 1 July 2010 were eligible. In simple words, the candidate had to be roughly between 16.5 and 19.5 years of age.

Qualification:

  • Army Wing of NDA: Class 12 (10+2) pass or appearing, from a recognised board.
  • Navy and Air Force Wings of NDA, and the 10+2 Cadet Entry Scheme at the Naval Academy: Class 12 (10+2) pass or appearing, with Physics and Mathematics as subjects.

Only unmarried male and female candidates were allowed to apply, as per the official notice.

Pay and Stipend

During training at the National Defence Academy, cadets get a fixed monthly stipend as set by the Government. After passing out and getting commissioned as an officer, pay is as per Defence Pay Matrix Level 10, along with Military Service Pay and other allowances. The exact stipend and pay figures are fixed by the Government from time to time — always check the official notification for the current amount.

How to Check the NDA I 2026 Written Result

Checking your result on this page is fast, because we host our own copy of the official UPSC lists. Follow these steps:

  1. Open the "Download Written Result (Roll No. Wise)" or "Download Written Result (Name Wise)" link from the Important Links table above.
  2. The result PDF opens directly — no login is needed for these lists.
  3. Use your browser's find option (press Ctrl and F) and type your roll number or your name.
  4. If your roll number is in the list, you have qualified for the SSB interview stage.
  5. Save or print the page for your records.

Your individual marks are not part of this list. UPSC shares marks separately after the full selection process ends. For that, and for your SSB call letter, you will need to use the official UPSC login when it opens.

What Happens Next

Qualified candidates are called for the SSB interview conducted by the Services Selection Centres of the Army, Navy, or Air Force. The SSB is a five-day process that tests officer-like qualities, psychology, group tasks, and a personal interview. Candidates also go through a medical test. The final merit list is prepared later by adding the written marks and the SSB marks together. Keep an eye on the official UPSC website and your registered email for your SSB schedule.
