ISRO ISTRAC Recruitment 2026 Overview

ISRO (Indian Space Research Organisation) Telemetry Tracking and Command Network, known as ISTRAC, is based in Bengaluru. It is the main ground-segment support unit for ISRO's satellite and launch-vehicle missions. Under Advertisement No. ISTRAC:02:2026, ISTRAC invites online applications from eligible Indian citizens for 26 posts across scientific, technical and support roles. The posts are temporary but likely to continue, and selected candidates can be posted anywhere in India.

Here NTC means National Trade Certificate, NAC means National Apprenticeship Certificate and NCVT means the National Council for Vocational Training.

Age Limit

The age limit is 18 to 35 years, calculated as on 20 July 2026. Reserved-category candidates get age relaxation where the post is reserved for their category: 5 years for SC / ST and 3 years for OBC. Departmental candidates, Ex-Servicemen, PwBD, meritorious sportspersons, widows and divorced women get relaxation as per Government of India rules. EWS candidates do not get any age relaxation. On top of the basic pay, ISRO adds admissible allowances such as Dearness Allowance. Employees also get free transport (in place of Transport Allowance), limited housing (in place of House Rent Allowance), advances for a computer or house, Leave Travel Concession, Group Insurance, a subsidised canteen and a medical scheme. New employees come under the National Pension System / Unified Pension Scheme. Career growth for scientific and technical staff follows the Merit Promotion Scheme.

Application Fee

All applicants first pay a uniform processing fee: Rs. 750 for Technical Assistant and Scientific Assistant, or Rs. 500 for Technician-B, Draughtsman-B and Cook-A. Women, SC, ST, PwBD and Ex-Servicemen candidates get the full amount refunded after they appear in the Computer Based Test (CBT). All other candidates get Rs. 500 (or Rs. 400 for the lower group) refunded after the CBT, so the real non-refundable fee is only Rs. 250 or Rs. 100. The fee is paid online through the Bharatkosh e-payment gateway using Net Banking, UPI (Unified Payment Interface) or a domestic Debit Card. No cash, cheque or demand draft is accepted.

Selection Process

Selection has these stages:

  • Initial screening based on your academic record and the details in your online form.
  • Written Test / Computer Based Test (CBT) for screened-in candidates. The written test for most posts has 80 multiple-choice questions in 1.5 hours, with +1 mark for a correct answer and -0.33 for a wrong one.
  • Skill Test on a go / no-go basis for candidates who qualify the CBT.

Final selection is based on the marks scored in the Written Test / CBT among the candidates who clear the Skill Test.
