RPSC RAS 2026 Recruitment - Overview

RPSC (Rajasthan Public Service Commission) conducts the RAS / RTS Combined Competitive Examination to fill officer-level posts in the Rajasthan State Services and Subordinate Services in one common exam. For the 2026 cycle, the Commission issued Advertisement No. 02/2026-27, dated 27 May 2026, for a total of 607 posts. Graduates who want a State Government officer job in Rajasthan apply through this single exam.

The selection has three stages: a Preliminary exam (screening only), a Mains written exam, and a Personality Test (Interview). The Prelims marks are used only to shortlist candidates for the Mains; they are not added to the final merit. The online form was open from 4 June 2026 to 3 July 2026, so the application stage is now over. The next step for applicants is the Prelims exam on 6 December 2026.

Vacancy Details

The 607 vacancies are split between the two service groups. State Services carry higher pay and rank; Subordinate Services form the larger share of posts.

Service GroupNumber of Posts
Rajasthan State Services (e.g. RAS, RPS, Accounts Service)192
Rajasthan Subordinate Services (e.g. Tehsildar, Co-operative, Planning)415

The final post-wise break-up for each service is given in the official notification. Always treat the RPSC notice as the final word on how many posts each cadre gets.

Eligibility - Age and Qualification

Educational Qualification: You must hold a Bachelor's Degree in any stream from a university established by law in India, or an equivalent qualification recognised by the Government. Final-year students should check the notification for the cut-off date to hold the degree.

Age Limit (as on 1 January 2027): Minimum 21 years and maximum 40 years. Age relaxation for reserved categories (SC / ST / OBC / EWS / women / Persons with Disabilities) is given as per Rajasthan Government rules. The exact relaxation table is in the official notice.

Pay Scale - Post-wise (Important)

RAS 2026 posts are paid on the Rajasthan 7th Pay Matrix, and the level depends on the post. This is the point most aspirants get wrong, so read it carefully:

Service GroupPay Matrix LevelEntry Basic Pay (approx)
Subordinate ServicesLevel L-10 to L-11About Rs 33,800 (at Level L-10)
State ServicesLevel L-12 to L-14Rs 56,100 (RAS officer, Level L-14)

So the well-known "Rs 56,100" figure is the entry basic pay of a top State-Service (RAS-officer, Level L-14) post -- it is NOT the starting pay of a Subordinate-Service post. A Subordinate-Service post at Level L-10 starts near Rs 33,800 basic. Dearness Allowance, House Rent Allowance and other allowances are added on top of basic pay as per Rajasthan Government rules. We are not adding any estimated in-hand figure here -- for the exact salary of your post, refer to the pay level fixed in the official notification.

Selection Process

The exam has three clear stages:

  1. Preliminary Exam - one objective (multiple-choice) paper on General Knowledge and General Science. It is a screening test only; the marks are not counted in the final merit.
  2. Mains Exam - descriptive written papers. Candidates who clear the Prelims cut-off appear for the Mains.
  3. Personality Test (Interview) - the final stage. The merit list is made from Mains marks plus Interview marks.

The Prelims is scheduled for 6 December 2026 (this is the revised date; it was earlier proposed for 29 November 2026). The Mains is scheduled for 1-2 May 2027.

How to Apply (window closed)

The application window has already closed on 3 July 2026, so fresh forms are no longer accepted. For the record, candidates applied online through the Rajasthan SSO (Single Sign-On) portal by first creating or logging into an SSO ID, then filling the RPSC recruitment form and paying the fee online. Applicants should now watch this page and the official RPSC website for the Prelims admit card, which is usually released a few days before the exam.

Documents and Next Steps

Applicants should keep a printout of their submitted form and the fee receipt safe. The Prelims admit card will need your application number and SSO login. Once the admit card and, later, the answer key and result are out, we will host the public official PDFs on this page for fast download, because the government server is often overloaded on exam and result days.
