SBI Assistant Manager and Deputy Manager (Law) 2026 - Overview
State Bank of India (SBI), the largest public-sector bank in the country, has invited online applications for Law Officer posts in two grades: Assistant Manager (Law) and Deputy Manager (Law). Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualification
For both posts you must be a Law graduate. That means a degree in Law (LLB) or a Law Graduate degree from a university recognized in India. A 5-year integrated law course from a recognized Indian university may be given preference. You must also be enrolled as an Advocate with the Bar Council.
Work Experience (as on 31 May 2026)
The experience must be after your enrolment as an advocate with the Bar Council. Internship and teaching or training experience are not counted.
- Assistant Manager (Law): 2 years of experience as a practicing advocate, or 2 years as a Law Officer in the Legal Department of a scheduled commercial bank, or 2 years of combined experience of both.
- Deputy Manager (Law): 4 years of experience as a practicing advocate, or 4 years as a Law Officer in the Legal Department of a scheduled commercial bank, or 4 years of combined experience of both.
Age Limit (as on 31 May 2026)
The minimum age is 25 years for both posts. The maximum age is 32 years for Assistant Manager (Law) and 35 years for Deputy Manager (Law). Age relaxation for SC, ST, OBC, PwBD (Persons with Benchmark Disabilities) and other reserved categories applies as per government rules. Salary and Pay Scale
The official pay scale as stated in the SBI notification is given below. The selected officers are also eligible for DA (Dearness Allowance), HRA (House Rent Allowance), CCA (City Compensatory Allowance), Provident Fund, National Pension System (NPS), Leave Fare Concession, medical facility and other perquisites as per the rules in force.

Selection Process
Selection is done in two stages, based on an Online Written Test followed by an Interview.
- Online Written Test: Planned (tentatively) for August 2026. The call letter will be uploaded on the Bank's website and candidates will also be informed by SMS and email. Candidates must download their own call letter.
- Interview: Candidates who clear the written test and score the minimum qualifying marks fixed by the Bank are shortlisted for the interview.
The final merit list is prepared as per SBI's rules. If two candidates score the same marks at the cut-off point, the older candidate is placed higher in the merit list.
Application Fee
General, EWS and OBC candidates pay an application fee and intimation charge of Rs 750 (non-refundable). SC, ST and PwBD candidates pay no fee. The fee has to be paid online only, through the payment gateway, using Internet Banking, Debit Card, Credit Card or UPI. The exact fee amounts by category are shown in the Application Fee box above.
