UPTAC 2026 Counselling — Overview

UPTAC (Uttar Pradesh Technical Admission & Counselling) is the single online counselling system for admission to technical courses in colleges affiliated to AKTU (Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University), Lucknow, and other participating institutions in Uttar Pradesh. Earlier this counselling was known as UPSEE / UPTU counselling. Today, admission is not based on a separate state entrance test. Instead, seats are filled on the basis of your score in national exams such as JEE Main, CUET UG, CUET PG, NATA and UCEED.

The whole process is online. You register once on the Samarth portal, upload your documents, pay the counselling fee, fill your college and branch choices, and then a seat is allotted to you round by round based on your rank and your choices.

UPTAC 2026 handles admission to a wide list of undergraduate, postgraduate and lateral-entry courses, including:

UPTAC 2026 Eligibility & Qualifying Exams

Your eligibility depends on the course you want. The main qualifying exams accepted for UPTAC 2026 are listed below. Always confirm the exact branch-wise rule in the official Information Brochure before you register.

You must also meet the minimum Class 12 (Intermediate) subject and marks rules for undergraduate courses, or the required diploma / degree for lateral-entry and postgraduate courses. No separate upper age limit has been announced for UPTAC counselling — you only need to satisfy the qualifying-exam eligibility.

UPTAC 2026 Counselling Fee

The counselling registration fee is Rs 1000 for all candidates. You can pay it online during registration using UPI, debit card, credit card or net banking. The exact fee is shown in the Application Fee box above. Keep the payment receipt safe — you may need it during document verification and reporting.

UPTAC 2026 Counselling Process — Step by Step

The counselling runs in multiple rounds. Each round usually follows this order:

1. New registration on the Samarth portal with your basic and qualifying-exam details.
2. Document upload — scan and upload your certificates, photograph and signature.
3. Counselling fee payment of Rs 1000.
4. Document verification (online or at a help centre, as notified).
5. Choice filling — select and order your preferred colleges and branches.
6. Seat allotment — a seat is allotted based on your rank, category and choices.
7. Freeze / Float — accept the allotted seat or wait for a better one in a later round.
8. Reporting — pay the seat-acceptance / admission fee and report to the allotted institute.

If you do not get a seat, or want a better one, you can take part in the later rounds and any special or spot round announced by AKTU.

How to Register for UPTAC 2026

1. Open the official UPTAC registration link in the Important Links table above.
2. Click "New Registration" and enter your name, qualifying-exam roll number and contact details.
3. Note down the system-generated application number and password.
4. Log in again, fill the full form and upload your documents.
5. Pay the Rs 1000 counselling fee online.
6. Submit the form and download or print a copy for your records.
